Workplace conflict, disengagement, and communication breakdowns are often blamed on “generational differences” — but are generational labels helping organizations solve problems, or creating new ones?

In this thought-provoking session, participants will explore how generational stereotypes can unintentionally reinforce bias, weaken leadership effectiveness, and distract organizations from the real drivers of employee engagement and performance. Rather than focusing on broad assumptions about age groups, this program encourages HR professionals and people leaders to lead individuals through clearer expectations, stronger communication, accountability, and inclusive management practices.

Attendees will learn how to identify when workplace challenges are rooted in leadership, culture, or organizational systems rather than generational identity. The session will also provide practical coaching strategies and communication reframes HR professionals can use to support managers in building stronger, more productive working relationships across teams.

This program aligns with SHRM behavioral competencies including Leadership & Navigation, Inclusive Mindset, Relationship Management, and Communication. Functional knowledge areas supported include Employee Engagement & Retention and Organizational Effectiveness & Development. HRCI Body of Knowledge alignment includes Human Resource Development and Employee & Labor Relations.
